It took a bit of time today before we worked up the bravery to start staining the entryway. We procrastinated this morning by doing a run out to storage to bring a load of garage stuff back. It wasn't until this afternoon that we managed to get started.
I had intended to wait to post pictures until I finished applying the stain but, as usual, I'm too impatient to wait.
This is finally getting exciting!
This is the first coat, there is still a second coat to go on soon.
It looks beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!
ReplyDeleteStunning! Can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a railing and stairway as beautiful as you did to stain. But alas it has been removed. That is going to look fantastic when it is done. Nice work stripping all the small pieces and tight corners!
ReplyDeleteThis house used to have more woodwork than it does now, but we're working with what's left. It was a challenge to strip in place, but I think saving the wood was more important than having the wood stripped perfectly. There are some white spots in the crevices but I don't think they'll be very noticeable by the time we're done.
DeleteMakes all the pain in the hind end stripping worth it, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt sure does! =)
DeleteProgress pictures always welcome! Your effort is nothing short of inspiring.
ReplyDeleteSo far I haven't had the guts to stain my stripped woodwork before shellacking it; I've put the dye in the shellack itself. But I think I'll work on my staining technique and do it first from here on. Tired of having my animals sink a claw in a beautifully refinished piece and have bare, light wood show underneath.
