Our spring weather finally arrived, and the guys got the mulch spread out in the yard. Yeah!! We got our driveway back.
The front planting strip.
We're starting to have a little problem in the backyard with a new invasive, Lesser Celandine.
It's pretty but also, apparently, evil. It will take over the whole yard even worse than the mint we battled last year. So, today, the guys removed it the best they could and mulched over the area. We need to find a source for a TON of cheap ferns. They should keep the ground shaded in spring. Or, hopefully, the chickens will take care of it for us.
In the front yard, I believe this is a Red flowering currant (Ribes sanguineum) we picked up from the EMSWCD plant sale a few years ago. The spring flowers are pretty.
The Red Dragon is just starting to get leaves budding out. The wisteria is close behind.
The plants are looking a little ratty from the long, hard winter, but I think they'll be okay with some sunshine.
You can't really see them, but the blueberry and kiwi plants are in. They're starting to bud out too. The dogs destroyed one of them by digging it out of the ground, Grr, so we'll have to replace that sometime.
If this beautiful weather holds, the guys are going to start building the garden shed/chicken coop next week! I really hope it does. I'm ready to have chickens again.
I am so jealous of your blooms! We are still a few weeks away.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, I'm sure it will come soon.
