Front Planting Strip

With the world so scary right now, we decided we needed to make something beautiful in our lives. I decided to plant up the front parking strip with flowers so I had a bit of a shopping spree. I decided on a purple and orange color scheme. The perennials are coming this spring, the bulbs won't arrive until fall. But, for about $100, I figured it's worth a shot to make this bland piece of yard prettier.
Purple Sensation Ranunculus
Hot Summer Coneflower
Aggressively Forward Reblooming Tall Bearded Iris
Flowering Crocus
Orange Monarch Snow Crocus
Sunburst Prima Donna™ Dinnerplate Begonia
Beauty Dutch Iris Mixture
Crimson Star Columbine
Giant Columbine Mixture
Orange Glory Flower
Orange King Peruvian Lily
And I also got some beautiful purple poppy seeds from donaleen over at Spit & Vinegar.
We're thinking about putting some sort of shrub or small tree in the center, so we're on the look out for our options. We're considering a small Japanese maple, lilac, or maybe a rhododendron. We're mostly winging it, so we'll see how it goes.

    1. You're welcome. That iris is a bit of a splurge; it's one of the most expensive flowers, but I loved it. I just hope we manage to get all these plants in the ground right away when they arrive. LOL

  2. With those colors, I would go with a grace smoketree in the center. Ours have done great, even with road salt and being hit by cars. It'll be beautiful, whatever you choose.
