Oops!

While looking at a photo today, Sharon realized the kitchen cabinets were made wrong. The cabinets were supposed to be built to match the existing dining room built-in, shown below. That built-in has inset cabinet doors and overlay drawers.
Well, the cabinet maker did an excellent job with the cabinet doors, they look beautiful. But, the drawers are inset, not overlay. Oops. I guess this is the part when we find out whether we hired a good design-build firm or not...Stay tuned for the solution.

The architect and kitchen designer visited this evening and we found an agreeable solution. Since Jeff likes the inset drawers, and Sharon mainly cares about the rooms matching, our compromise is to just let the cabinet maker make inset drawers for the dining room. This will involve far less labor and expense. We spent a while combing through the Bungalow Kitchen book and inset drawers are an historically correct option.

  1. I would think that would be an easy fix. I'm not a woodworker, so I may be wrong...
